Indulge Me Aftercare: 48-Hour Do’s & Don’ts for Spa Packages
By Les Ciseaux Salon and Spa | October 20, 2026
If you’re doing Indulge Me with us in Sarasota, the single most important rule is simple: for the next 48 hours, protect what I just did for your skin and body by avoiding heat, sun, sweat, and harsh products. This package includes a Customized Facial, Shampoo and Blow-Dry, and a Polish Change on Hands, plus champagne, so your aftercare is really about keeping your skin calm and your glow steady, especially in our Sarasota sun.
Quick reality check for Downtown Sarasota and the Bayfront: a short waterfront walk near Boulevard of the Presidents or a quick beach stop on the way home can be enough to irritate freshly treated skin. If you keep the next 48 hours calm, your results tend to last longer and feel better.
Your Indulge Me 0–48 Hours: the exact do’s and don’ts I want you to follow
Right after Indulge Me, I’m thinking about two things: keeping your skin barrier calm after the facial, and keeping inflammation down after the shampoo and blow-dry. In Sarasota, heat plus sun plus sweat can turn a calm, happy face into a reactive one fast, so the first 24 to 48 hours matter.
For your facial skin (first 24–48 hours)
- Skip active skincare: hold off on retinol, AHA/BHA acids, strong vitamin C, scrubs, and anything that stings.
- Go gentle: mild cleanser, bland moisturizer, and a broad-spectrum SPF in the daytime.
- No heavy makeup: I’d rather you let the skin breathe for 24–48 hours, especially if you’re redness-prone.
- Hands off: don’t pick at texture, flakes, or a small breakout that was already forming. That’s how irritation turns into a mark.
For massage recovery (first 24–48 hours)
- Hydrate: drink extra water the rest of the day. It helps you feel better and keeps that post-massage “heavy” feeling down.
- Avoid heat: no sauna, hot tub, or very hot bath for the first 24 hours. Heat can ramp up inflammation.
- Ease into movement: a gentle walk is fine, but I generally recommend skipping intense workouts and heavy sweating for 24–48 hours.
For your polish change (same day)
- Give it time: even when nails feel dry, they can still dent. Be careful with keys, tight jeans, and heavy bags for a few hours.
- Skip hot water at first: super hot water can soften polish early on. If you can, wait before a long hot shower.
Beach-ready tip: If you have plans on Lido Key, Siesta Key, Longboat Key, or St. Armands, keep them shaded for two days. A hat and SPF beat “I’ll just be outside for a minute” every time.
Days 3–7: keep the glow, don’t undo it
By day three, your skin usually looks settled and your body feels looser. This is where people get tempted to jump back into everything at once, especially when Sarasota weather is calling your name. If you want your facial results to look consistent, I’d rather you reintroduce things slowly.
Sun and heat are the biggest “oops”
Keep prioritizing SPF daily. If you’re outside near the Bayfront, reapply. And if you did have any body polishing or exfoliation during your visit, treat your skin like it’s extra sun-sensitive for a few days. Sun can make irritation last longer and can leave you blotchy.
Bring actives back like you mean it
If you use retinol or acids, restart slowly. One night, then wait a couple days. If you feel stingy or tight, pause and go back to gentle moisturizer and sunscreen. That simple reset saves a lot of frustration.
Simple at-home routine after Indulge Me (products by type, not hype)
You don’t need a complicated shelf after a spa day. You need the right basics, used consistently. I’ll always tell you if you need something specific, but in general these categories keep results looking clean and comfortable.
For your face
- Gentle cleanser (no gritty scrub beads)
- Fragrance-light moisturizer that doesn’t burn or tingle
- Broad-spectrum SPF every morning, and reapply if you’re outside
For your body
- Hydrating, fragrance-free lotion after showering
- Comfortable clothing that doesn’t rub if your skin feels sensitive
- Water, and a little extra rest that night if you can swing it
For your nails
- Cuticle oil or hand cream daily, especially after washing hands
- Gloves for cleaning, gardening, and anything with chemicals
If you found me by searching hair salons near me, massage near me, or nail salon near me, this is the part that surprises people. Results come down to a few calm days, not a complicated routine.
Swimming, workouts, and Sarasota sun: quick answers for real life plans
If you want to swim
I generally recommend waiting at least 24 hours before swimming, and 48 hours is safer after a facial. Chlorine and saltwater can be drying and irritating on freshly treated skin. If you do get in the water, rinse right after and moisturize.
If you want to work out
For the shampoo and blow-dry and facial combo, I’d wait 24 to 48 hours before intense exercise. Sweating plus heat can stir up facial sensitivity, and your body usually responds better when you give it a day to settle.
If you have an evening out
Going to a Ringling event or dinner downtown after your appointment is totally doable. Keep makeup light, skip strong actives that night, and don’t sit in direct sun before you head out. Your skin will look better for it.
If something feels “off” after Indulge Me, reach out to us early
A little post-facial pinkness, mild tenderness from massage work, and that pleasantly relaxed feeling are all normal. What I don’t want you to do is power through something that’s getting worse.
Please call us if you notice prolonged redness that isn’t calming down, blistering, or unusual discomfort. I’d rather talk it through the same day than have you guessing for two days.
"10 stars. I now fly from CT to FL to have a facial quarterly with Moneer, she's the best and my skin has never looked better."
one of our regulars
Indulge Me is meant to feel like a full reset. If you’re coming in from St. Armands, Lido Key, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, or Bradenton, I’ll also help you plan your aftercare around beach time so you don’t lose your results the next day.
Staying consistent helps. Many of our facial regulars come in on a steady rhythm because skin changes with seasons here, especially with sun and humidity.
If you want to keep that “just left the spa” look going, ask me at your next visit what timing makes sense for your skin and schedule.
